    Powder Coating Lifespan and Rust Prevention on Sheet Metal

    In general, ordinary epoxy-based powders are suitable for indoor applications. With proper surface preparation, they can provide reliable protection and maintain good appearance for around 5–8 years indoors. However, they are not resistant to UV, so outdoors they may chalk or lose effectiveness within just a few years.


    For outdoor environments, outdoor or weather-resistant powders are a better choice. These powders offer stronger UV and weather resistance, helping sheet metal products last about 5–10 years outdoors, depending on the climate and exposure conditions. In coastal or harsh industrial areas, the service life may be shorter unless additional protective systems are applied.
